      Abstract
      The study was conducted to determine how the representation of female characters who appear in the movie Ghostbusters 2016, saying four female ghost hunters named Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Erin Gilbert (Christian Wiig), Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon), and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones). The characters inherent in four women are independent, brave, strong, clever and tough. They are very brave to play guns used to capture and kill the evil ghosts. This research uses the type of qualitative research using semiotics methods. The Semiotic method is used to use the lambing symbol on the media text and to view the form of communication required as the system Token. The research object is the film Ghostbusters 2016 directed by Paul Feig which has a duration of 2 hours 14 minutes. Data collection techniques using documentation and library studies. In the process of analyzing the data using semiotic analysis of Model John Fiske. The results show that the film Ghostbusters does not perform with sensuality and does not feature the ideal female curve and stereotypical woman depicted widely in the hero figure in several movie titles. The film unpacks stereotypes of women as second gender. The development of the film is about women who fill the roles of men and narrative characters. The film was used by director Paul Feig to demonstrate his support of Hillary Clinton in the United States presidential election through the depiction of the film's character Ghostbusters. Hillary Clinton Advanced in the American presidential nomination suggests that women also have similarities or equality in leadership, so women are expected to advance
