      Abstract
Background : Dental caries is a major public health problem globally and is the most widespread non-communicable disease. One of the substrates that can affect dental health is Fluor. Fluorine inhibits the development of lesions and thus can be a chemical therapy for caries. The highest fluorine content is found in fish, especially marine fish. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship of consumption patterns of marine fish with dental caries status in children aged 12-13 years class VII SMP N 2 Kretek in 2019. Method: Analytical observational study with cross sectional design. The sample was taken as many as 70 people using the total sampling method. Examination of caries using the DMF-T index. Pattern of fish consumption using questionnaires. Data from caries examination and fish consumption patterns were calculated through spearman correlation test. Results: DMF-T index as much as 2.61 and included in the low category according to WHO. The level of fish consumption in children is very low, which is <1 times a week. Conclusion: There is no relationship between consumption patterns of marine fish with dental caries index in children aged 12-13 years class VII SMPN 2 Kretek in 2019.
