| dc.description | Measurement of intraocular pressure (IOP) still remain an important method to evaluate patients who are at an increased risk of glaucoma. Transpalpebral tonometer works with rod vertically pushing the eye lid and Schiotz tonometer working based on indentation principle towards a cornea. This study aimed to compare quantitavely IOP measurement with Schiotz and transpalpebral tonometer in patient with healthy eyes.
Method : 164 eyes from 82 healthy patients aged 20-60 years old were measured using Schiotz and transpalpebral tonometer by one opthalmologist. Results obtained from the mean of three consecutive measurement. The data analyzed using independent t-test to determine the result’s differences.
Results : Mean results measured by Schiotz and transpalpebral were 15,85 ± 2,85 and 14,28 ± 2,01mmHg in right eyes and 15,62 ±2,20 and 13,73 ± 1,80 mmHg in left eyes. The p-value of t-test differ significantly with result <0,01 in both eyes. IOP ranging variously with Schiotz having wider variations and tend to have higher result. Interestingly, measurement using transpalpebral have a tendency to underestimate than those performed by Schiotz.
Conclusion : Schiotz and transpalpebral tonometer is easy to use and portable. However, this device should not be used interchangeably due to its wide variations. Further test should be conducted in case of extreme value of IOP is found. Both Schiotz and transpalpebral can not be used as a gold standard in measuring IOP. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Pengukuran tekanan intraokular (TIO) masih menjadi metode penting untuk mengevaluasi pasien dengan resiko Tonometer transpalpebral berkerja dengan menyentuhkan alat ke kelopak mata sementara Schiotz memerlukan indentasi terhadap kornea. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan secara kuantitatif pengukuran TIO menggunakan tonometer Schiotz dan transpalpebral pada mata yang sehat.
Metode : 164 mata dari 82 pasien sehat berumur 20 hingga 60 tahun diukur menggunakan Schiotz dilanjutkan dengan tonometer transpalpebral dengan satu dokter mata. Hasil merupakan rata-rata setelah tiga kali pengukuran berurutan. Data dianalisis dengan t-test tidak berpasangan untuk menentukan perbedaan hasil.
Hasil : Rata-rata pengukuran menggunakan tonometer Schiotz dan transpalpebral adalah 15,85± 2,85 dan 14,28 ± 2,01 mmHg pada mata kanan dan 15,62 ± 2,20 dan 13,73 ±1,80 mmHg pada mata kiri. Nilai-p pada t-test tidak berpasangan menunjukkan perbedaan yang sangat signifikan dengan nilai <0.01 pada kedua mata. Nilai TIO bervariasi dengan Schiotz mempunyai variasi lebih lebar dan cenderung mempunyai hasil yang tinggi. Tonometer transpalpebral cenderung mengalami estimasi rendah nilai TIO Schiotz.
Kesimpulan : Tonometer Schiotz dan transpalpebral sangat mudah dan portabel digunakan. Namun, kedua alat ini tidak bisa digunakan bergantian karena lebarnya variasi dan perbedaan hasilnya.
