GAMBARAN KEBUTUHAN PEMBERDAYAAN (EMPOWERMENT) KELUARGA DALAMSELF-MANAGEMENT DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DI WILAYAH BANTUL
Abstract
Background:Diabetes mellitus (DM) in Indonesia in 2017 reached 10.3 million people, and is expected to increase to 16.7 million people in 2045. The prevalence of DM in Yogyakarta is the fourth highest, which is 6,931 people. One way to prevent complications is self-management because it can improve discipline in diabetes management. Family empowerment is an aspect that can help improve self-management in diabetic patients.
Research Objectives: This study aims to identify family empowerment needs in self-management of type 2 DM.
Method:This study uses a type of quantitative research with desciptive analytic design using a cross-sectional approach. The total population is 96 people. The selection of samples was chosen using an accidental sampling technique. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire of knowledge, motivation and behavior of family support. Statistical analysis used in this study is univariate analysis.
Results:The level of family knowledge of DM patients in the category of Enough is 71 people (74%). The motivation of families with DM patients at a sufficient level is 58 people (60.4%). The frequency of help in DM patients in the adequate category is 59 people (61.5%). Feelings Helping families in DM patients in sufficient categories is 67 people (69.8%).
Conclusion:The description of family empowerment needs in type 2 DM self-management in the work area of Bantul Health Center in terms of aspects of knowledge, motivation and behavior of family support in sufficient categories.
