WACANA POLIGAMI PADA FILM RELIGI ISLAM SURGA YANG TAK DIRINDUKAN
Abstract
This study takes the object of an Indonesian popular Islamic religious film in
2015, Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan (SYTD). This study aims to determine
polygamy discourse portrayed in the SYTD’s movie and also to find out the
purpose of the filmmaker that representing polygamy discourse on religious film.
This study is a qualitative research with a critical discourse analysis techniques
model of Norman Fairclough. The results of the study at the level of the texts
shows that the discourse of polygamy can be represented through the choice of
words and religious diction in representing the Islamic character in the film.
Through the texts, it can be represented through the identity formed in positioning
polygami actors. In the dimensions of practical discourse, the filmmaker was
construing the polygamy as an effort in the information and achievement of a
more Islamic character, such as the attainment of piety through sincerity and
patience, as well as construed the individual’s role and character which lead to
polygamy and the opportuniyu to preserve it. At the level of socio-cultural shows,
polygamy is still repeating a lot of adultery, and so forth. The conclusion are film
maker represent the polyagmy as a threat and criticism of those who want to
achieve the better predicate in piety, also for those (man) who have a very kind
heart, and those (women) that too idealistic in defining the role of woman in
household. The good characters, manners, and religious could not guaranteed of
monogamous family. But with the characters and embellishments of religious
things that built in this film, are just to estrange the ideology of the filmmaker
himself to dominate the Indonesian film industry.
