      Abstract
      This research aimed to determine the role of happiness as mediating variable to improving organizational commitment study on lecturers of Economics and Business Faculty of UMY. Independent variables used in this study were positive relationships with others, achievements, physical work environment, compensation, and healthness while the dependent variables used were happiness and organizational commitment. Sample used in this study were lecturers of Economics and Business Faculty of UMY by census method. In order to get the number of samples used in this study were 43 respondents and data were analyzed using partial least square with processing aid SmartPLS 3 and data using SPSS 15 software . Thus, results of this study concludes that : 1) Positive relationships with the others effect negatively and not significantly toward happiness. 2) Achievements takes effect positively and not significantly toward happiness. 3) Physical work environment is not significant and negative effect on happiness. 4) Compensation takes effect positively and significantly on happiness. 5) Healthness takes positive and not significant toward happiness. 6) Happiness effects positively and not significantly on organizational commitment.
