HUBUNGAN OLAHRAGA AEROBIK TERHADAP TEKANAN INTRAOKULAR PADA SUBJEK NORMAL USIA MUDA
Abstract
Background : Intraocular pressure (IOP) is the pressure within the eyeball that
normally it is between 12-20 mmHg. To get an optimal vision, IOP should be in
normal range. Many factors could affect IOP, such as age and exercise. The
purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between aerobic exercise
and intraocular pressure in young normal subject.
Methods : This study was comparative analaytic pre-post control design study
with cross sectional approach. This study only measure the IOP of subject’s right
eye. The IOP is measured before aerobic exercise group does jogging. Then, the
IOP of both groups are measured again after aerobic exercise group finish
jogging. Data is analyzed by using paired sample T test and independent sample T
test.
Results : The subject are 78 Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School students aged
12-15 years old which are classified into 2 groups, they are control and aerobic
exercise group. The result of this study shows that there was decreasing of IOP in
aerobic group. But, the result of data analysis shows that there was no
statistically significant change of IOP between control group and aerobic exercise
group. The result of paired sample T-test shows that there was no statistically
significant change between IOP before jogging and after jogging.
Conclusion : There was no statistically significant change of IOP between control
group and aerobic exercise group. There is no statistically significant relationship
between aerobic exercise and intraocular pressure (p=0,532).
