ANALISIS RESEPSI PENONTON PEREMPUAN TERHADAP FILM HIJAB
Abstract
The presence of the development phenomena of moslem dress for women in Indonesia has made middle class society become more susceptible towards the Islamization proses by purchasing some goods considered as Islam religion symbol. Despite the performance, the existence of woman domestication in patriarchal culture was strong. It is in which women are often related to domestic job in the household life so that it makes less chance for women to keep on working outside the house. The normalization becomes the impact of both phenomena that then makes a new discourse towards moslem woman identity in the society. Hijab movie by Hanung Bramantyo is regarded trying to answer the restlessness of the women after they get into their household life.
The research used descriptive qualitative technique that applied the reception analysis of Stuart Hall (2010). It targeted on the women especially who had had household life both who had job and who did not as informants. Through the interview, the research would analyze how the informants understood and interpreted the message delivered in the movie.
Hijab could give understanding for the audiences related to the new woman identity in the society. The identification that was both proper and not proper, as well as normal and not normal then emerged. The normal classification was given to them, moslem women who wore headscarf and obeyed their husbands faithfully in the houses. Meanwhile, moslem women who did not wear headscarf were regarded as not normal/ proper. Some informants agreed with the message delivered in the movie, while some others had their own opinions towards the classification.
