THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ DISCIPLINE AND STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN LEARNING PROCESS AT EED OF UMY
Abstract
This research aims to know (1) the EED of UMY students’ discipline level (2) the EED of UMY students’ academic achievement and (3) the correlation between students’ discipline and students’ academic achievement. In this study, the reseacher used cluster random sampling as technique to take the sample. The data were collected from 153 students batch 2014 and 2015 of EED of UMY. The researcher used questionnaire to measure the students’ discipline level with the reability of 0.863 which indicated a high reability. Besides, the students’ academic achievement (GPA) were obtained from the academic information of EEDof UMY. This research were analyzed using descriptive statistic and pearson correlation product momment (r). The result showed that students’ discipline was in a high level with the mean score of 55.42 and the students’ academic achievement belongs to high level with the mean score of 3.28. The result also revealed that the significant value was 0.01 < 0.05 and the pearson correlation was 0.422. It indicated that there was a positive correlation between students’ discipline and students’ academic achievemnet in learning process at EED of UMY. In addition, the strengthness of the coeficient corrrelation belongs to moderate since the pearson correlation was on 0.422. Therefore the alternatif hypotheses was accepted which means that there is a significant discipline between students’ discipline and students’ academic achievement.
