Bina Rohani (Spiritual development) is a kind of spiritual service given to patients in a hospital. For hemodialysis patients, spiritual development service has significant role in improving religious commitment. Making the patients accept their illness is not a simple thing to be done by the hospital staff. In this case, Bina Rohani, using its various methods and strategies plays important role for helping the patients accept their condition. This study aims at finding out the role of Bina Rohani in improving religious commitment on hemodialysis patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping hospital. This study used field research with qualitative method that results in descriptive data. The data gathering technique was using observation, interview and documentation. Result shows that 1) Bina Rohani of PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping hospital has applied its role according to the standard regulation and procedure. There are also innovations developed within the program, such as getting closer to the patients and gently touching them, giving affectionate cares and also giving encouragement. Usually, spiritual development will ask about the patients’ family condition, the patients’ current status, what the patients are feeling, thus the communication between the program and the patients will be running appropriately. 2) Bina Rohani of PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping hospital has applied its role in improving the religious commitment. It can be seen from the result of interview with the patients, in which the patients have realized that the illness that they have suffered is actually coming from Allah SWT. Another result is that the program has improved the prayer quality of the patients, improved the religious knowledge, increased the peacefulness, and encouraged the patients to be more open-minded and to be socializing with the community. 3) There has been sufficient program implementation, such as support from the agency, as well as support and facilities from the hospital either medically or non-medically. Overall, Bina Rohani has provided sincere support to the patients that it makes the working performance become more effective
