THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE STUDENTS’ INVOLVEMENT IN ENGLISH DEPARTMENT STUDENT ASSOCIATION BOARD AND STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT
Abstract
This research aimed to investigate the students’ involvement in EDSA Board and the students’ academic achievement. This research also aimed to find out the correlation between the students’ involvement in EDSA Board and their academic achievement at EED of UMY. The data were obtained from twenty eight students who involved in EDSA Board and got GPA. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistic and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (r). The results revealed that the students’ involvement in EDSA Board was in the high level (3.14) and students’ academic achievement (GPA) was also in high level (3.41). The result also showed that the significance value was 0.877 > 0.05 and the correlation value (r value) was 0.031. It means that there is a positive correlation between the students’ involvement in EDSA Board and their academic achievement at EED of UMY, however, the correlation is in the low level.
