      Abstract
      This study aims to analyze the development and determine the strategy of economic development through leading sector in South Lampung Regency. The analysis conducted by comparing PDRB on the basis of 2010 Constant Price of South Lampung Regency and GDP at the 2010 Constant Price of Lampung Province. The analytical methods were used by Shift Share, Location Quotient, Klassen Typology, and SWOT analysis. There are six economic sectors which categorized as the leading economic sectors in South Lampung Regency in 2011-2015, including the mining and quarrying sector, the major trade and retail sectors; car and motorcycle repair, accommodation and food/drinking sector, financial and insurance services sector, corporate services sector, and education services sector. Based on the SWOT analysis, the strategy of economic development in South Lampung Regency is designing the development of leading economic sector which equally, improving security, and building infrastructure which stimulate the economic activities of the communities.
