PERAN GURU BIMBINGAN DAN KONSELING DALAM MENGATASI MALADJUSTMENT PADA SISWA TUNAGRAHITA DI SEKOLAH LUAR BIASA NEGERI 1 BANTUL
Abstract
The research entitled the roles of guidance and counseling teacher in overcoming maladjustment in mentally-disabled students in SekolahLuarBiasaNegeri 1 Bantulis based on the number of students who are unable to adjust with the positive environment.Itresulted in various disorders such as anxiety disorders, maladjustment and other disorders. Also it is based on the lack of guidance and counseling personnel in accordance with educational background.
The purpose and research of this research is (1) to know the forms of maladjustment of mentally-disabled students in SekolahLuarBiasaNegeri 1 Bantul, (2) to know the causal factor of maladjustment of mentally-disabled students in SekolahLuarBiasaNegeri 1 Bantul,and (3) to know the roles of guidance and counseling teacher. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach with the data collected through observation, interview, documentation, and conversation.
The results of this study indicate that the form of maladjustment that occurs in mentally-disabled students in SekolahLuarBiasaNegeri 1 Bantul are among others (1) the students never communicate verbally with teachers and friends, (2) the students experience excessive fear, (3) students have sexual disorders, and (4) students experience excessive emotional levels. While the factors that cause the occurrence of maladjustment are among others (1) family factors, (2) low level of trust factor, (3) excessive fear factor, and (4) personality pattern factors. While the roles of guidance and counseling teacher in overcoming maladjustment of mentally-disabled students are among others (1) holding a preventive action in the form of extra-curricular program, good cooperation with parents, and giving assessment, (2) doing curative action in the form of personal counseling, communication to parents, and referring mentally-disabled students to general guidance and counseling teacher, and (3) giving guidance in the form of special skills coaching, mental and religious coaching, and send them back to the parents.
