POTENSI INFUSA KAYU MANIS (Cinnamomum burmanii) SEBAGAI INSULIN MIMIK TERHADAP PENINGKATAN KADAR ADIPONEKTIN PADA TIKUS DIABETES
Abstract
Adiponectin is a collagen-like secretory protein produced by fat cells and plays a role in improving insulin sensitivity. Adiponectin levels will decrease in diabetics. The content of cinnamon polyphenols (Cinnamomum burmanii) have similar effect to insulin, so it assumed as an antidiabetic substance. In a controlled diabetes condition, it tends to have higher levels of adiponectin. The aim of this study to determine the effect of cinnamon infusa on increasing adiponectin levels in diabetic rats by doses 300mg /kgBW/day and 150mg/kgBW/day for 14 days.
This study used 25 white rats strain Sprague dawley which was divided into 5 groups. STZ + NA was induced in positive control group and intervention group. Blood sugar levels were measured at the time before and after induction. The group based on therapy was given for 14 days and adiponectin levels were measured by ELISA method.
Data analysis used One-Way ANOVA parametric test on normal distributed data. Group I was used as the standard of normal adiponectin values (733 + 200 ng / mL to 763 + 142.5 ng / mL). Adiponectin levels decreased in diabetic rats (p = 0.07) and treatment of cinnamon infusion dose 300 mg/kgBW, but still in the range of normal (p = 0,0284). Cinnamon infusa doses 150 mg/ kgBW showed increasing level of adiponectin (1.4% -34.5%) and glibenclamide 0.09 mg/kgBW therapy showed that adiponectin levels similar to the normal group (p> 0.05). Giving cinnamon infusa 150 mg/kgBW was able to increase adiponectin levels significantly in diabetic rats (p = 0.026).
