INVESTIGATING STUDENTS’ STRATEGIES IN LEARNING PRONUNCIATION
Abstract
Learning English pronunciation requires strategies to be able to successful. This research aimed to reveal students’ strategies in learning pronunciation at an English Education Department of a private university in Yogyakarta. The participants involved in this study were three students of batch 2014 at the department, who have the highest score, the average score, and the lowest score in pronunciation score in Capita Selecta on Linguistic course. Furthermore, a qualitative descriptive was used as a research design in this study. The findings show that there are eight major findings considered as strategies in learning pronunciation, namely using dictionary, watching English movies, understanding phonetic symbol, playing games, asking friends, reading aloud, recording one’s self utterance, and the last looking for speaking partner.
