PENGARUH PSIKOEDUKASI TERHADAP FUNGSI SOSIAL ORANG DENGAN SKIZOFRENIA DI KOMUNITAS
Abstract
Background: Schizophrenia is a syndrome with various causes and wide range of
development, alongside with numbers of effects regarding the genetic and
physical factors, and social cultures. Generally, it is marked by a deviation in
fundamental matters and characteristics in thinking and perception, along with
unreasonable affect. Consciousness and intellectual skills are usually maintained,
though certain cognitive retardations may develop. Schizophrenics are marked by
impairment in previous functional skills, can be observed in their job, social
relations, and self-maintaining. Psychoeducation is an informative education
about diseases and treatment, allowing emotional integration that gives
opportunity for the paticipants - the patients and their family to overcome the
disease. This education is systematic and structured. This study is to determine the
effect of psychoeducation toward social function in schizophrenics.
Method: This study used quasy experiment with pre-test and post-test with one
group design. Sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Total sample of
28 with intervention group. Intervention was done for 6 times in Tempel
Community Health Facility, Temon I, Srandakan, and Playen II, Yogyakarta from
December 2016 until April 2017.
Result: Study results showed mean value of the pre-test as 84.5% and mean value
of the post-test as 94.0%. Non-parametric study using Wilcoxon showed p=0.000.
With p<0.05, it can be concluded that psychoeducation effects social function in
shizophrenics.
