UPAYA GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM MENINGKATKAN AKHLAK SISWA KELAS X DI SMK MUHAMMADIYAH 1 YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
This research aims to find out the efforts of Islamic education teachers in
improving the character of grade X students in Muhammadiyah Vocational High
School 1 Yogyakarta.
This research will reveal the condition of students‟ character, the efforts
carried out by Islamic education teachers in improving students character, as well
as the supporting factors and obstacles in improving students character. This is a
descriptive qualitative research whose subjects were Islamic education teachers,
headmaster and students of Muhammadiyah Vocational High School 1
Yogyakarta. The data were collected using 3 techniques, namely; interview,
observation and documentation.
The data collection and analysis are of interactive nature. The research
results reveal that (1) there are three character conditions in Muhammadiyah
Vocational High School 1 Yogyakarta, namely; good character, ordinary
character, and less ordinary character. However, generally the character condition
at the school has been good, (2) the efforts carried out by teachers to improve
students character, among others, are: collective prayers, reciting Al-Qur‟an
together, forming study groups and conducting Ramadhan religious camp, (3) the
supporting factors are professional educational personnels and facilities such as
LCD projector. As for the obstacles are, there is no big mushola or mosque in the
school area, underprivilege family background, and lack of cooperation between
school and parents.
