MOTIVASI PETANI DALAM MEMPERTAHANKAN TANAMAN KAKAO DI DESA BANJAROYA KECAMATAN KALIBAWANG KABUPATEN KULON PROGO
Abstract
Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta has potential for cocoa crops. There are three cocoa villages in Yogyakarta, two villages in Patuk, Gunungkidul, Putat and Bobung villages, and one village in Kalibawang sub district, Kulon Progo, named Banjaroya. The cocoa in Banjaroya village is now 28 years old, causing its production to decline. Although farmers said that cocoa cultivation now is less profitable, cocoa farmers in Banjaroya still manage their cocoa farms well, even farmers have started to rejuvenate. The objective of this research is to knowing the farmer's motivation for maintaining cocoa plant in Banjaroya Village, Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo Regency and to know factors that have relationship with farmer's motivation in maintaining cocoa plant in Banjaroya Village, Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo Regency. Data were collected using a combination of observation techniques and interview techniques with 34 respondents. Data analysis technique using scoring analysis and Rank Spearman. The result is the farmer's motivation in maintaining cocoa plants in Banjaroya Village Kalibawang District Kulon Progo Regency based on ERG theory that classified as medium category and there are only three factors that influence the farmer's motivation in maintaining cocoa plants in Banjaroya Village Kalibawang District Kulon Progo Regency is the area of land, as well as the number of dependents.
