BINGKAI PEMBERITAAN HARIAN KOMPAS DAN REPUBLIKA EDISI 4 SAMPAI DENGAN 12 SEPTEMBER 2017 MENGENAI PENGUNGSI ROHINGNYA
Abstract
The conflict between the Myanmar military and Rohingya refugees is repeated. The Rohingya Humanitarian crisis which began in 2012 again occurred in 2017, after the attack by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) militant group attacked Myanmar's military guard post on August 25, 2017. This conflict caused a lot of Rohingya refugees from Rakhine, Myanmar to Bangladesh. This phenomenon became the focus of international media, including the media in Indonesia which reported intensely; among others are Kompas and Republika. The aims of this study are to find out the frame differences of reporting between Kompas and Republika in reporting Rohingya refugees and what factors influence these differences. The theoretical framework in this study includes the constructionist paradigm, news and journalism, news framing, the print press in the news and the news frame differentiating factors. The research data is news about Rohingya's humanitarian crisis in the Kompas and Republika Daily Newspapers 4th to 12th edition on September 2017. Data was collected through documentation techniques and analyzed by analysis techniques of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki models.
This study produced reporting frame differences between the two print media. Kompas sees the problem of Rohingya refugees as an international humanitarian problem. Meanwhile, Republika sees the problem of Rohingya refugees as a problem of Muslims. Further, the difference in the reporting frame is influenced by two factors. Those are the extra media level which includes the interviewees and the government, and the level of the organization which includes organizational supplier orientation.
