PERANCANGAN MODIFIKASI BECAK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN STABILITAS DAN MERINGANKAN GAYA KAYUH
Abstract
Traditional transportation can be defined as moving people or goods from one place to another using a vehicle driven by human or animal. Pedicabs are one of the traditional means of transportation. The type of mover uses human power in a padded way. The purpose of this design is to produce a light wight and stable steering wheel, smaller megnitude of paddle force, and lightweight body of rickshaws.
The design process started with measuring the existing rickshaw. Suspension system is adjusted for the comfort of pessangers, the steering system was modified for improding stability. The suspension system was adapted from gokart and steering system was using Suzuki Baleno’s car. A multiple sprocket system was selected for the drive system.
The design results in a lightweight and stable steering system of Rack and Pinion. The drive system was a multiple sprocket. The body was mode of glass fibre composite system in order to obtained lightweight rickshaw structure.
