UJI ATRAKTAN ALAMI DARI BEBERAPA TUMBUHAN AROMATIK UNTUK PENGENDALIAN KUMBANG KELAPA (Oryctes rhinoceros) PADA TANAMAN KELAPA
Abstract
Aromatic plants as natural attractants have a potential to control plant
pest including coconut beetles. This researchwas conducted to examine whether
natural attractants can substitute synthetic pheromones in controlling coconut
beetle and to obtain an aromatic plant which effective attract the coconut beetles.
The research was started from December 2017 to January 2018, in CoconutCore
Estate and Smallholder in ParitKipul, Pebenaan Village, Keritang Sub-district,
Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The research was designed using singlefactor
experimental method arranged in a completed randomized block design
with 3 blocks as reproductions. The factor in this research was the type of
aromatic plant consisting of 4 types, namely lemongrass, celery, patchouli, and
ginger, and synthetic pheromone which contain ethyl-4 methyl octanoate as a
control. The observations were the number of trappedcoconut beetles, the weight
of trappedcoconut beetles, the length of trapped coconut beetle and the number of
trappedother macro-organisms. The results showed that the natural attractant of
lemongrass, celery, patchouli, and ginger could not substitute the synthetic
pheromone for controlling the coconut beetle.
