      Abstract
The object of this research is a women-themed short story anthology published in 2017 entitled Ketut Rapti. This research is purposed to determine how the role of women is narrated in the short story anthology. Three short story selected as the material of research, entitled Laki-Laki Tanpa Cela, Katanya Saya Tak Akan Bosan, and Telapak Kaki yang Menyimpan Surga, describes the role of women in the household. Balinese society is the background of this short story anthology, as Ni Komang Ariani as an author from Bali, through the short story anthology Ketut Rapti, attempts to persuade women to realize that they are not second-class creatures. Narrative analysis technique using Algirdas Greimas model is utilized in this research in analyzing the structure of Balinese households, later Levi Strauss’s binary opposition method utilized to analyze how the role of women is narrated in the short story anthology. This analysis is applied to determine the actual role of women in the household of Balinese society. The result of this research illustrates that Balinese society preserves the belief that women are second-class creatures, creating a common perception that women maintain the role of weak, obedient, scapegoats, and only able to work at home creatures
