GAMBARAN SINKRONISASI MENSTRUASI PADA RESIDEN PUTRI TINGKAT PERTAMA DI UNIVERSITY RESINDENCE (UNIRES) UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA (KAJIAN DENGAN KUESIONER DAN SIKLUS MENSTRUASI)
Abstract
Background: Menstruation problem is commonly found in all women especially
moslem women that is closely related to religious service matter. It is important
for a woman to know the difference between menstruation blood and other bloods
like istihadhah blood. According to Islam religion, there are some ways to
differentiate both bloods. One of them is by seeing the menstrual habit of the
women in their environment. Some women who live together and often do
activities together will probably have similar menstruation cycle and this is what
is called as menstruation synchronization. Menstruation synchronization can be
influenced by some factors like menstrual hygiene and stress level factors.
Research Objective: Finding out the description of menstruation synchronization
on first year female residents in University Residence (UNIRES) of Universitas
Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta with the factors that can influence the menstruation
synchronization.
Research Methodology: The research was non experimental one with pure
descriptive design. The subject of the research was 64 respondents taken with
simple random sampling technique. They were the first year female residents in
UNIRES UMY. Menstruation synchronization was measured with menstruation
synchronization formula (Weller & Weller, 1997), while the menstrual hygiene
and the stress level with questionnaire. The data analysis used univariate analysis.
Research Result: Based on the result of the univariate analysis, the majority of
the respondents who have menstruation synchronization are 41 respondents, while
the majority of the respondents who have good menstrual hygiene are 51
respondents and the majority of the respondents who have normal stress level are
29 respondents.
Conclusion: Most of the first year female residents in UNIRES UMY had regular
menstrual cycles of 79.9%, having menstrual synchronization as many as 64,1%,
had good menstrual hygiene behavior during menstruation as many as 79,9% and
have a normal stress level of 45.3%
