STUDI EKSPERIMENTAL PENGUKURAN HEAD LOSS MAYOR (PIPA PVC DIAMETER 1/2”) DENGAN VARIASI DEBIT ALIRAN UNTUK KONDISI REJIM ALIRAN LAMINAR FLUIDA FASA CAIR
Abstract
Head loss is the frequent flow losses in the piping system. Head loss is divided into 2, these are major head loss and minor head loss. Head loss occurs due to the friction that occurs between layers of fluid with each other and can occur also between the layers of fluid with the wall of the pipe. Major head loss occurs on straight pipe, while minor head loss occurs in addition to straight pipe such as elbow, fitting, branching, valve, etc. This study was conducted to determine the effect of variation of fluid flow discharge on laminar flow regime condition toward major head loss value and coefficient of friction value on ½ PVC pipe ".
The data retrieval method was done by varying the flow discharge. The flow discharge that enter the piping system will be adjusted with the laminar flow regime of 1 - 1,9 LPM which can be arranged using 2 gate valve and measured using rotameter tool. In a study conducted using fluids derived from wells and has a length of 1 meter pipe. In this study the data taken is the difference in pressure that occurs at the point of entry and exit using a pressure differential tool that has been calibrated, so that the difference in pressure data obtained during the test, can be calculated head loss and coefficient of friction that occurred.
In this research, it is found that the value of head loss and coefficient of friction is influenced by Reynolds number from 1174,221 - 2231,25 and fluid flow discharge. On the flow of fluid flow and Reynolds number is increasing will increase the value of head loss major while the value of the coefficient of friction will decrease. In this study resulted in major head loss value of 8,19 . 10-4 m to 1,68.10-3 m, whereas the coefficient value of friction generated from 6,74.10-2 to 3,83.10-2.
