PENGGUNAAN VIDEO ANIMASI PENCABUTAN GIGI METODE TELL-SHOW-DO TERHADAP PENINGKATAN AMBANG RASA SAKIT PADA ANAK USIA 7-12 TAHUN DI RUMAH SAKIT GIGI DAN MULUT UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Background: Tell-show-do is one of behavior control techniques that use at first introduction to operative procedures. Along with the development of technology, the percentage of media and gadgets use in children is increasing. Therefore, the animated video multimedia that informs the patient about the tooth extraction procedure will be more attractive to the child. Informative animated video with the tell-show-do method is more effective for reducing pain and helping dentists to control children's behavior.
Objectives: To study the influence of tooth extraction animated video in tell-show-do method on increasing pain threshold to children age 7-12 years in RSGM UMY.
Method: Quasi experimental study with non equivalent group posttest-only design with 34 subjects. The subjects were divided into 2 groups, there were control group and intervention group, obtained by non-random sampling with purposive sampling technique. The patient's pain threshold was measured by Wong Baker Faces Pain Scale (WBFPS).
Results: The result has analyzed with Mann-Whitney test revealed that there is a significant increase in pain threshold in the treatment group compared with the control group (p <0.05).
Conclusion: Tooth extraction animated video in tell-show-do method could influence on increasing pain threshold to children age 7-12 years who had tooth extraction in RSGM UMY.
