PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MULTIMEDIA VIDEO ANIMASI PENCABUTAN GIGI METODE TELL-SHOW-DO TERHADAP TINGKAT KECEMASAN ANAK PADA USIA 7-12 TAHUN DI RUMAH SAKIT GIGI DAN MULUT UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Background: Dental anxiety refers to an anxious condition about dental treatment or certain aspects of dental treatment. Anxiety level of children could be different which can be seen by Modified Child Dental Anxiety (MCDAS) questionnaire. Non-pharmacology approach such tell-show-do with tooth-extraction animated video might be decrease dental anxiety to children.
Objective: To know the influence of animation video based on tell-show-do method to reduce dental anxiety of children (7-12 years old) at RSGM UMY.
Method: Quasi Experimental with non equivalent posttest only control group design had conducted in 2 groups divided from control group and intervention group, taken from tooth extraction patient using Chlorethyl by co-assistant doctor‟s student in RSGM UMY. The gathered data will be analyzed through Independent Sample Test.
Results: The results showed an average of 24.58 in the control group and 14.35 in the treatment group. Based on these results, the control group had more anxiety than the treatment group. Independent Sample Test obtained p-value 0.000 (<0.05) which indicates that there is an influence of animated video extraction of tooth on children's anxiety levels.
Conclusion: The research shows that there is influence of using animation video based on tell-show-do mehod to reduce dental anxiety of children (7-12 years old) at RSGM UMY
