INSPEKSI KESELAMATAN JALAN STUDI KASUS JALAN YOGYAKARTA – WATES KM 19 – 23, SENTOLO, KULONPROGO, DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA.
Abstract
Kulon Progo Regency is located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta province which has its own charm as the city of students, culture, and tourist destination that is able to attract newcomers. Its growing population and high economic growth rates can lead to an increase in the number of vehicle owners that will result in the behavior of road users and increased traffic volume. Yogyakarta – Wates Road km 19 – 23 is an artery road which connects Sleman Regency with Kulon Progo Regency and a strategic road that connects Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java Province. Because of the frequent occurrence of accidents on this road, then one of the ways to reduce the number of accidents can be done by conducting an analysis of the causes of traffic accidents. Therefore, Road Safety Inspection is necessary to be done to identify high – risk situations or potential accidents. The purpose of this research is to conduct road safety inspection such as by examining the road geometrics and equipment on Yogyakarta – Wates Road km 19 – 23, and to provide the alternative solution to improve the road safety, particularly the road geometrics.
The result of this research are (1) Yogyakarta – Wates Road km 19 – 23 has 3 bends all of which are the type of SCS and the stopping sight distance is 89.910 m while the passing sight distance is 383.733m which have fulfilled because in the planned stopping sight distance is 106.559 m and the planned passing sight distance is 441.952 m. (2) The percentage of non – standard road equipment is 44.44% of the road equipment on Yogyakarta – Wates Road km 19 – 23 The inadequate road equipment is the warning signs of winding road, and bridge, maximum speed limit warning, and lack of warning signs to turn right and left.Therefore, the results show that there is a potential for accident – prone areas that do not provide safety for the road users.
