Abstract
The study aims to determine the correlation of self-directed learning
readiness with learning result of Shochukyu Kaiwa because readiness is one of
the supporting factors for learning result of an individual. The study uses a
correlation method with a quantitative approach. The sample is the students of
Japanese Language Education Department of the Muhammadiyah University
of Yogyakarta at the second grade of the third semester on 2017/2018 period.
The instruments used in this study is questionnaires and documents in learning
result form for these subjects. The study result is moderate with the
correlational value of ρ count of 0.33 when compared to the Spearman rank
correlation coefficient (RhO) table, the ρ count < ρ table is 0.33 at the
significance level of 0.05 or 5 %. Then, when the results are matched with
Spearman rank coefficient interpretation table, the range is 0.30 – 0.49 which
stated that correlation between self-directed learning readiness variable and
learning result in study result form is not strong or weak affection. It indicates
the result is moderate and showing self-directed learning readiness isn’t affect
the students learning results.
