Abstract
Two-phase flow is a flow which consists of the combined fluid liquid and gas,
for deployment in the industrialized world the more used and grown rapidly.
Investigation of two-phase flow in capillary pipes becomes very important as used
in various applications such as x-ray, heat exchanger, geothermal piping systems,
boilers, oil and gas, in addition to that contained on the system especially in
biomedicine the cardiovascular system is the circulation is made up of the heart,
blood vessels and the blood that circulates throughout the body. Along with the
widespread application of flow added two more in depth research required phase
again by performing a variety of methods to find out its effect on characteristics of
two-phase flow.
The research was carried out using experimental methods, with an inside
diameter of pipe of 1.6 mm and 130 mm Long test section with slope 5 ° against
the horizontal position. The working fluid used air and water mixture (akuades)
with Glycerin with concentrations of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% for each blend, with
varying the values of superficial water and gas velocity in the range of JL = 0.033
– 4.935 m/s and JG = 0.025 – 66.3 m/s. Research done by the method of
visualization using high-speed cameras.
Come by five types of flow pattern: bubbly, plug, slug annular, annular and
churn. The plug flow pattern dominate in this study, changes in viscosity effect seen
on the flow of bubbly flow and plug as well as on the transition flow pattern maps.
Flow pattern formed later in justification and are mapped based on superficial
velocity variation. Map of the flow pattern is also compared to the results of the
research.
