ANALISA PEMBUATAN MEKANISME KOMPOSIT COVER KNALPOT SUZUKI NEX BERPENGUAT BAHAN KOMPOSIT SERAT AGAVE SISALANA DAN FIBERGLASS DENGAN METODE HAND LAY UP
Abstract
Development of natural fiber to used composite material technology has attracted the attention of researchers to find the advantages of natural fibers, so it’s can decreased used of synthetic fibers. Agave Sisalana is one of the annual tropical plants and fiber has regular crop season from the leaves by farmers.
The making motorcycle accessories is exhaust cover on Suzuki Nex motorbike using fiber in pure agave sisalana without chemical treatment and synthetic fiber with Hand lay up method. This study discusses the metallographic physical properties of microstructure, and wettability in single fibers of agave sisalana against polyester.
The results of the study were the ability of the wetting matrix sisal fiber without alkali treatment with a contact angle between 74o<0 <41o clam-shell shape with very low wettability whereas in synthetic fibers, the contact angle between 19o<0 <36o shows optimal level of wettability.
The results of thickness and weight on product quality results obtained by sisal fiber exhaust cover composite weight of 313 grams with a thickness of 4.18 mm while synthetic fiber exhaust cover weight of 259 grams with a thickness of 1.87 mm. the conclusion is cover muffler composite synthetic fiber reinforcement is better and lighter compared than natural fibers without treatment.
