THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION IN RESOLYING THE DARFUR CONFLICT
Abstract
A conflict broke in Sudan, particularly in Darfur, splitting the country into half demanding immediate action from international third-party institutions to restore the threatened peace. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has the role to play in order to bring peace in the conflicted area. The conflict has become OIC’s role to resolve because Sudan has become the member of OIC since 1969. Besides, the amount of Muslim in the country has brought religion’s sentiment into account. In order to restore peace in Sudan, OIC has, so far, published further resolutions in the level of supporting to mediate the conflicted parties.
