The existence of the impact of excessive use of fertilizers and chemical pesticides that can
interfere with health and environment, encourage the development of organic farming
system. The purpose of this study is to know the level of risk and behavior of farmers against
the risk of organic rice farming in Pandak Bantul. The research used survey method.
Census sampling is that all organic rice farmers who are incorporated in the Joint Farmers
Group “Mitra Usahatani” amounted to 33 people. To measure the level of risk using the
variation coefficient of revenue, while the behavior of farmers toward risk is analyzed using
the utility function approach of quadratic function model. The results showed that the level
of risk of organic rice farming on the status of the land is tenans than the land owned and
rented. The results showed that the level of risk of organic rice farming on the status of the
land is greater than the land owned and rented. More than 70 organic rice farmers with
the status of the owner, tenant or rent behave neutrally to risk.
