HUBUNGAN KEYAKINAN KEMAMPUAN DIRI (SELF-EFFICACY) TERHADAP PERILAKU PERAWATAN KAKI PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS
Abstract
amputation. Foot care behavior which is done regularly can reduce amputation rate as many as 50%. Good self-efficacy in patient DM will increase motivation and induce to commit behaviors that support his/her health. This research aimed to examine the correlation between self-efficacy and foot care behavior in patient DM at Puskesmas Gamping 1 Yogyakarta.
This research was descriptive study with cross sectional design, used total sampling with 48 respondents. Instruments of research were Foot Care Confidence Scale and Nottingham Assessment of Functional Foot Care Indonesian verse which already modified. Analysis data used Spearman Rho. The results showed the average age of respondents were 56,1 years old with average durations of DM were 6,3 year, without complication (77,1%) and wound/ulcer (77,1%), and also they never received counseling about foot care behavior (72,9%). The average score of self-efficacy was 35,7, SD=5,4, and range of score from 27-54. The average score of foot care behavior was 41,54, SD=6,4, and range of score from 27-57. There was correlation between self-efficacy with foot care behavior in patient DM (p=0,003; r=0,421).
The higher self-efficacy, the higher foot care behavior. Nurse can increase self-efficacy through regular health education and for further research can study to increase patient’s self-efficacy by giving intervention
