HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN ORANG TUA DALAM PEMILIHAN JAJANAN DENGAN OBESITAS PADAANAKDISABILITAS DI SLB NEGERI 1 BANTUL
Abstract
Background:,Dissability children with obesity have a higher risk of health problems that require extra supervision and knowledge of parents in choosing snacks that children proper food consumed and does not cause obesity.
Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge of parents in choosing snacksand disability children with obesity in SLB Negeri 1 Bantul.
Methods: This study was a quantitative correlation with cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were the parents of children with mental retardation disabilities and students with disabilities in SLB Negeri 1 Bantul as many as 212. The sampling method used in this research was total sampling technique with a total sample of 106 children and 106 parents of children with mental retardation students. The sampling also measure the status of BMI in children.
Results: The test results of correlation between the level of knowledge of parents in choosing snacks and obesity in children with disability obtained p value = 0.093 which means there was no significant relationship between two variables.From the result of demographic data characteristics of parents who waited dominated by female sex bay the age of 42-48 yearsm and the work is dominated by housewife with income from 0-1,9 milion rupiah.
Conclusion There is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge of parents in choosing snacks and disability children with obesity because the level of economic parents is low. Researchers further suggested to involve the people closest to the retrieval of data on children with disabilities to facilitate communication.
