SLAKE DURABILITY INDEX TANAH CLAYSHALE YANG DISTABILISASI DENGAN SEMEN
Abstract
Construction on clayshale susceptible to durability problems due to that
soil very easily weathered when in contact with water and air. Clayshale
durability may decrease when subjected to drying and wetting cycles. The aims of
the study are to analyze cement stabilized clayshale durability affected by the
shape of the sample and mixing method. The cement content that used was 10
percent by weight of the dry soil and prepared using dry mix method and spray
mix method. There are two kinds of mold that used to prepared specimens i.e.
mold A and mold B. Mold A measures 3,5 cm in diameter and 7 cm in high, the
specimens are prepared as high as half a mold. Mold B is 7 cm in diameter and
14 cm high, specimens are molded and divided into fragments weighing 40-60 g.
The result of this study indicates that adding cement can increase the stability of
soil and reduce the degradation of soil. Specimen B and dry mix method have
greater durability than specimen A and spray mixing method.
