      Abstract
Lesbians in Yogyakarta come from educated circles, where the campus should be an educational institution which should focus on identity formation, attitudes and behavior. this behavior is generally not realized by the wider community. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative by collecting data in the form of interviews and documentation studies. The interviews were conducted with three informants from students who had homosexual orientation and three family members from each informant and the community around the informants. The results of the study show the intimacy that lesbian students in Yogyakarta City have with their families due to their closeness and family acceptance. Whereas to the community there was no familiarity from the informants. The level of concern of family members is shown by the informant's mother and sister because they can accept sexual orientation. Whereas in the community, informants only interact in community service activities. The communication intensity of lesbian students towards families is included in the inner category, while the community in the category is not yet deep. The place of communication chosen by informants with family members is the house and bedroom. Whereas the informant community chooses when they are offered to avoid talking privately. The topic of conversation is lesbian students towards families in the deep category. Whereas the community is not yet deep. Obstacles to communication of lesbian students to the family, namely time and family acceptance. Whereas in the community a negative assessment becomes an obstacle faced in communicating.
