This research title is “The Thought of Buya Hamka about Character Building in the Book of Pribadi Hebat and Its Relevance with Education in Indonesia”. This research aims at describing the concept of character building in his work entitled Pribadi Hebat towards its relevance with character building in Indonesia. This research was library research in nature with descriptive qualitative approach. The primary data of the research were from the book of Buya Hamka entitled Pribadi Hebat. Meanwhile, the secondary data were from the books with character building theme written by Thomas Lickona, Samsul Kurniawan, Doni Koesoema, and Fathul Mu’in. Besides, there were also the books of Irfan Hamka, Haidar Musyafa, Syukur and Ara Guci that specifically discussed the biography of public figures. From the result of the research, the researcher concludes that: (1) the concept of character building in Pribadi Hebat book by Buya Hamka contains ten elements of character, i.e.: attractive, clever, emphatic, brave, wise, having good point of view, humble, healthy, communicative and confident. (2) the concept of character building in Pribadi Hebat book by Buya Hamka has relevance with the meaning of National Education that obliges the students to develop noble personality and morals as stated in Pribadi Hebat.
