KARAKTERISTIK MODULUS ELASTISITAS DAN DAYA DUKUNG MATERIAL BASE COURSE TIPE KELAS B BERBASIS PENGUKURAN DEFLEKSI
Abstract
A good and qualified condition of road infrastructure is a main issue in
economic growth in Indonesia. Therefore, the road quality must be able to serve
the traffic increase and the pavement structure must be well-designed. In pavement
structure, the pavement structure consists of surface layer, subbase or base layer,
and subgrade layer. The testing of structural strength is required in evaluating a
subbase or base layer. The LWD testing is a tool used to measure the structural
strength of a pavement structure system. LWD testing uses the principle of wave
theory by dropping some load from particular height is taken by the geophone
sensor. The result of LWD is the deflection which is used for measuring elastic
modulus applying Boussinesq equation. This tool was used in the base course layer
testing in the campus area of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta with 16
testing points. In the same testing point, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) was
conducted. From this testing, the value of CBR (%) and elastic modulus (MPa)
obtained from the value of DCPI. The comparison on LWD and DCP results show
the both testing produce the similar elastic modulus in which the results obtained
have fairly strong correlation value. Thus, the LWD tool can be used for the
inspection of structural in the pavement structure
