This research aims at finding out the students’ level of activity in joining the Hizbul Wathan extracurricular, the students’ level of independence attitude, as well as the effect of joining the Hizbul Wathan extracurricular activity on the students’ independence attitude in SD Muhammadiyah Suronatan Yogyakarta. This research was using quantitative approach. The data collection was through questionnaire followed by data analysis using SPSS. The statistical technique used was Simple Regression Test, with total 62 students of Class VA and VB. The research result shows that the students’ activity level in joining the Hizbul Wathan extracurricular is categorized as medium; it is proven by the data showing 40 students (64%) out of the total 62 students. The students’ independence attitude is considered as medium, showing 35 students (56%) out of the total sample. The percentage of the students’ activity in joining the Hizbul Wathan is 43%.
