HUBUNGAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DAN KEDISIPLINAN SHALAT BERJAMAAH SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 2 SAMBIT KABUPATEN PONOROGO
Abstract
This research is aimed at: (1) analyzing emotional intelligence of students; (2) analyzing students’ discipline in performing congregational prayer; (3) finding out the correlation of emotional intelligence and congregational prayer discipline of VII grade students at SMP (junior high school) Negeri 2 Sambit Ponorogo district. This is a quantitative research with descriptive analysis approach. The research model was quantitative approach with quantitative correlation model. The total population of the research was 111 students, and 30 students were selected as the research sample through purposive random sampling. The data were collected from questionnaires, interview, observation, and document then analyzed using product moment correlation.
The findings of the research show that: (1) The grade VII students’ emotional intelligence level is in high category that is as many as 24 respondents (80%) with some aspects as follow: managing emotion, knowing others’ emotion, self-motivation, and having good relation with other people. (2) The grade VII students’ discipline in performing congregational prayer is in high category that is as many as 27 respondents (90%) with some aspects as follow: performing congregational prayer every day, being on time in performing congregational prayer, reminding others to perform congregational prayer, paying attention to the shaf when performing congregational prayer, dhikr and pray after congregational prayer. (3) There is a correlation between emotional intelligence with discipline in performing congregational prayer of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Sambit Ponorogo district with significance value of 0.000 (p<050) and coefficient correlation (rxy) of 0.732. There is a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and discipline in performing congregational prayer. It is concluded that the higher the emotional intelligence, the higher the discipline in performing congregational prayer. The higher the discipline in performing congregational prayer, the higher the emotional intelligence.
