TINDAKAN SEA SHEPHERD TERHADAP PERBURUAN PAUS OLEH NELAYAN JEPANG
Abstract
Sea Shepherd is a non-governmental organization whose
mission is to end the destruction of habitat and the slaughter of
animals in the ocean to protect and preserve the oceanic ecosystems
along with the species in it. One of the cases Sea Shepherd struggles
is to end the whale hunting practiced by Japanese fishermen since
centuries ago. Now, Japan Government uses scientific research to
justify their actions for whaling. However, this activity still
considered as the action that could bring whale to extinction. This
research explains how the NGO Sea Shepherd attempts on
suppressing whale hunting in Japan.
The author uses two theories, and those are Transnational
Advocacy Network (TAN) and Non-Governmental Organization by
analyzing the strategy of information politics and symbolic politics
in TAN and the advocacy function through the campaign from the
concept of NGO.
