PENGARUH PENGATURAN POSISI PENCELUPAN TERHADAP PERSEBARAN PELAPISAN NICKEL-CHROM DALAM PROSES ELECTROPLATING ADJUSTER CHAIN
Abstract
Electroplating is the process of coating a solid material with a metal layer
using the help of an electric current through an electrolyte. The coated object must be
a conductor or can conduct electricity. Electroplating is intended for various
purposes ranging from protection against rust such as coatings on steel used for
various purposes. Nickel and chrome plating are generally intended to make objects
have a harder and shiny surface as well as corrosion protection.
Adjuster Chain on the arm motor that serves to tighten the chain. Having a
beauty value that is lacking, the coating process is carried out to increase the
decorative value of the metal and a nickel-chrome coating study is carried out to find
out how the effect of the dyeing position during the coating process on the physical
and mechanical properties of the coating results. Where in Specimen A the surface
faces directly with the anode and Specimen B the surface accompanies the anode and
tests the thickness, roughness, corrosion resistance.
The best and thickest thickness results were obtained in specimen segment A 1
with a thickness value of 27,91 μm, compared with thickness of specimen B segment 1
with a thickness value of 19,89 μm. In the immersion position with the surface
specimen variation facing directly with the anode has a very high roughness value
with an average value of 2,08 μm compared with the immersion variation on the
surface of the specimen accompanying the anode has a relatively smaller roughness
value with an average value of 1,07 μm . Corrosion resistance that occurs in Adjuster
Chain has the same percentage of corrosion resistance that is equal to 2% of both
variations. By using different variations of immersion, there is no effect on corrosion
resistance.
