PENGETAHUAN, SIKAP, DAN TINDAKAN PETANI DALAM PENGELOLAAN ORGANISME PENGGANGGU TANAMAN UBI KAYU DI KECAMATAN TANJUNG SARI, KABUPATEN GUNUNGKIDUL YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Plant-disturbing organisms are an integral component of the ecosystem in
agricultural cultivation, so research on knowledge of attitudes and actions in
managing plant-disturbing organisms needs to be known as information for
integrated pest management in order to support sustainable cassava production.
The study aims to obtain information about the knowledge, attitudes, and actions
of farmers in the management of pests and diseases of cassava plants in
Tanjungsari District, Gunungkidul Regency, Yogyakarta. The study was
conducted in 5 villages namely, Kemadang, Kemiri, Banjarejo, Hargosari and
Ngestirejo villages. There were 50 farmers who became respondents, with a
distribution of 10 farmers per village. The study was conducted by survey using a
structured questionnaire to determine the characteristics and attitudes,
knowledge, and actions of farmers. The relationship between farmer
characteristics and farmers' knowledge, attitudes and actions was analyzed using
the χ2 (Chi-Square) test. The results showed that respondent farmers in
Tanjungsari Subdistrict generally had knowledge of cultivation methods from the
experience of other farmers. The main pest that attacks is mealy bug, while the
main disease is the basal stem rot. Most of the respondent farmers do not control
pests and diseases. Analysis of the relationship between age, education, farming
experience, and farmer group membership, shows that there is no correlation
between these parameters with farmer knowledge. However, farmer's attitude
correlates with education level. Whereas farmers actions correlate with age and
farmer group membership.
