Background: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) remains a cornerstone in the treatment of cardiac arrest, and has been shown to reduce in-hospital deaths when received from adequately trained and well knowledge health care professionals. Nurses are usually the first
to identify the need for and initiate CPR on patients with cardiopulmonary arrest in the hospital setting, so well knowledge and good skilled from nurses are things that must be fulfilled. This study wanted to know the level of knowledge and skills of nurses about CPR
in management patient of cardiac arrest in Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital.
Research Method: The type of research conducted is the mixed method. For the quantitative approach using descriptive observational methods while for the qualitative approach is obtained by doing deep interviews. Result: From the 42 respondents who were given the questionnaire, good knowledge was obtained, while the skills aspect was still lacking
in basic life assistance. The implementation that occurs is still not in accordance established standards. Conclusion: The results of this study are nurses of Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital who have good knowledge and skills about basic life assistance in the management of patients with cardiac arrest. But in its application in the field it still hasn't gone well because there are gaps in the application of existing standard operation procedure.
