This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, liquidity, activity and firm size on financial distress. The object of research is Basic and Chemical Industry Companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2014 - 2017. This study uses a purposive sampling method as a sampling technique with a total sample used which is 130 samples or 37 companies. The analytical tool used in this study is logistic regression analysis with SPSS 16 program. The results of this study that liquidity has a significant negative effect on financial distress, profitability has a significant negative effect on financial distress, activity does have not significant effect on financial distress and firm size does have not significant effect on financial distress
