In a very basic form, storytelling is a process by which storytellers use vocalizations, narrative structures, mental imagery, and communicate with audiences who also use mental imagery so that storytelling can be used as one of the teaching techniques in the classroom. The basic purpose of storytelling is to help the students participate more actively and train their abilities. This research was conducted to determine the implementation and benefits of storytelling in the Literary Appreciation class. This research used a descriptive qualitative research approach. For data collection, the interview was conducted with three students who had taken the Literature Appreciation class and took part in storytelling activities. As the results, there were findings about the implementation of storytelling conducted in the Literature Appreciation class related to participant’s preparation, participant’s performance, and post performance. In addition, the second finding showed the advantages of storytelling in the Literary Appreciation class in relation to the students’ English language as they could gain the knowledge to distinguish literary language from colloquial language, improve speaking skill, and enhance vocabulary mastery.en_US
