PERBEDAAN METODE WILLEMS DAN METODE BLENKIN-TAYLOR DALAM PERKIRAAN USIA
Abstract
Background: Age estimation of individuals through dental panoramic
radiographs should be an important process of identifying forensic odontology.
Dental age can be use to estimating the chronological age of individuals.There
are two latest methods modified by Willems and Blenkin-Taylor
Objective: To find the differences between Willems method and Blenkin-Taylor
method in estimation age using panoramic radiographs
Method: This study used observasional analytical with cross sectional study
design. The sample for the study consisted of 95 radiographs (48 male and 47
female) is evaluated by Willems and Blenkin-Taylor methods to obtain dental age.
The differences between chronological age and dental age were statistical
analysis carried out by independent t-test of SPSS 15.0 test for Windows.
Results: the Willems method p = 0.266 in male and female p = 0.415, Blenkin-
Taylor method p = 0.191 in male and female p = 0.300, (p value> 0.05), it means
no significant difference between chronological age and dental age according to
the Willems method and the Blenkin-Taylor method in female and male groups.
Conclusion: There is no difference between Willems method and the Blenkin-
Taylor method, in the age estimation using panoramic radiographs in patients at
the Dental and Oral Hospital of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University
