HUBUNGAN BENTUK KEPALA DENGAN BENTUK LENGKUNG GIGI RAHANG ATAS PADA MAHASISWA KEDOKTERAN GIGI UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA ANGKATAN 2015
Abstract
Extra-oral clinical examinations that include measuring the head and arch index of the teeth are important tests to do because extra-oral examination can help establish a diagnosis and treatment plan, especially in orthodontic department. The shape of the head and arch of the teeth are influenced by race, genetics, environment, and habits. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the shape of the head and the shape of the maxillary dental arch in Javanese dental student class of 2015, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
The design of this study was observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach method involving 41 Javanese dental students class of 2015, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta aged over 20 years as the subject of the study. The results showed that the dominant head shape was Brachycephalic (63.4%) and the dominant maxillary tooth arch shape was Tappered (90.2%).
The results of the study were analyzed using the Gamma correlation test and the results of p-value 0.557 > 0.05 which means that there is no significant relationship between the shape of the head and the maxillary dental arch shape in Javanese dental student class of 2015, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Statistically the shape of the head and shape of the maxillary dental arch have a negative correlation (-0,287).
