      Abstract
      Background : Bruxism is an occlusal parafunction activity, which sufferers rarely realize. Bruxism is divided into two types, namely awake bruxism and sleep bruxism. Both types of bruxism have causative factors, namely morphology, patho-physiological factors and psychological factors. One of the psychological factors is stress which is closely related to the students of the dental profession. The prevalence of bruxism decreases with increasing age, besides the prevalence of bruxism can increase along with stressful events. Objective: To determine the number of UMY Dentistry profession students who experience bruxism. Method : Descriptive using the Cross Sectional approach. The population of this study were all dentist professional study program students at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and obtained a sample of 200 people from a total population of 260 using the solvin formula. Results : The results show from 200 respondents, 36 respondents were bruxers and 164 respondents were not bruxer. Conclusion : The conclusion from this study, there were 4 males and 31 females from total 36 respondents who were bruxers
