PERSEPSI PETUGAS KESEHATAN TERHADAP FAKTOR RESIKO MEDICATION ERROR PADA PELAYANAN RAWAT JALAN DAN RAWAT INAP RUMAH SAKIT AT-TUROTS AL ISLAMI
Abstract
Background : Health workers have a responsibility in preventing medication
errors that occur from the prescription process to the administration of drugs.
Medication errors are serious problems that have an impact on increasing the
duration of hospitalization and treatment costs, patient mistrust which is
usually followed by patient dissatisfaction with health care. The purpose of
this study was to determine the risk factor analysis of medication errors in
outpatient and inpatient care at the At-Turots Islamic Hospital.
Methods : This study used a mix of research methods, namely quantitative
and qualitative research methods. The population was doctors, midwives,
pharmacists and assistant pharmacists and nurses at At-Turots Hospital,
totaling 42 people. The sample collection technique used total sampling
technique. Quantitative data analysis used techniques of descriptive and
qualitative data analysis with Miles and Huberman models including data
collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing / verification.
Results : The risk factor for medication error related to low category of
profession (71.4%) was seen from the health official liking and being
interested in his profession supported by knowledge and understanding
related to the available medicines both dosage, method of use, administration
of drugs according to the route and side effects. The risk factors for
medication errors related to low category of facilities and infrastructure
(52.4%) are indicated from a comfortable work environment because it is far
from noise and has adequate lighting, medicines are also neatly arranged and
there are SOPs related to the profession. The risk factors for medication
errors related to moderate category of management (81.0%), which shows
that management facilitates the reporting of medication error events.
Conclusion: Risk factors for medication errors in hospitals may still exist,
but efforts are being made to improve patient safety. Risk factors for
medication errors related to the health profession, facilities and infrastructure
and management need to be a priority so that the quality of patient safety can
improve.
